About the event
Pomerania today is split between Poland and Germany. The borders have changed a lot over the centuries. In the nineteenth century, Pomerania was part of Prussia. Gdańsk, located on Poland's Baltic coast, is the capital of present-day Pomeranian Voivodeship with approximately 470,000 residents. This historic port city was once known as Danzig and served as a major Hanseatic trading hub. Its Old Town showcases distinctive Burgher architecture, including St. Mary's Church, the largest brick church in the world. Gdańsk's history dates back to the 10th century, and it was the birthplace of the Solidarity movement that helped end Communist rule in Poland.
